Adivasi Dalit Women Empowerment Study Centre

Adivasi Dalit Women Empowerment Study Center is a non-profit organization located in Melukavu Panchayath, Kottayam District, Kerala. Registered under the Travancore-Cochin Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955 (Section 12) and initiated by a group of Dalit-Tribal women, the organization became operational in 2001. Vulnerable women and girls from tribal and dalit communities. Our priority is to provide food, shelter and education to extremely poor girls from broken families of tribal and dalit.

OBJECTIVES

  • Work for the upliftment of the society, with a vision purely based on equality and human rights having no regard for caste, creed, religion and gender
  • Raise voice for the rights of the Adivasi Dalit community and contribute towards their socio-economic development.
  • Rehabilitate girls who are poor, orphaned or sexually abused and provide shelter to unmarried mothers of Adivasi Dalit Origin and abandoned women.
  • Provide necessary legal help (consultation) to Adivasi-Dalit community. Establish schools, old age homes, rehabilitation centres etc. in the area.
  • Support and rehabilitate the aged, patients, physically challenged and other weaker sections of the society.

We have initiated a number of programmes for women and children in collaboration with Melukavu Grama Panchayath. The functioning of this organization in this Panchayath has been significant in terms of the services they have rendered, including in women empowerment programmes of the Panchayath, charity and care work among the senior citizens, extending legal support to needy women and children etc.
